Why "HealingDialogue"?
I have been studying methods of healing and facilitating change for over thirty years.
Therapies
My trainings have centred around Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Ericksonian and Solution Orented approaches. I have also had broad experience with more body centred and breath centred approaches,
Meditation
Concurrently I also pursued the study of meditative traditions and had contact with a range of teachers, masters and gurus. I was particularly interested in research which provided scientific evidence of the benefits of meditation and studies that linked meditation practices with counselling and psychotherapy.
Changing Internal Dialogue
A key insight from all of this was the key role of internal dialogue in the change process and the absolute importance of changing internal dialogue which is dysfunctional.
Of course this is the basis of a broad range of therapeutic approaches. It is the variety of means which can facilitate this shift which is both encouraging and which can also be confusing.
Hypnotherapy, particularly in the Ericksonian style, can be particularly useful in facilitating these key shifts. However in my experience cognitive analysis of patterns can also be impactful, and I utilize both approaches in my practice.
The Healing Dialogue
A crucial factor is shifting destructive inner dialogue to a healing dialogue. My clients make this shift through our sessions by beginning to utilize healingdialogue at a conscious and unconsious level.
I realized that aspects of this process are very ancient and particularly enjoy utilizing the healing power of stories and anecdotes to facilitate change.....
Of contemporary spiritual traditions buddhism offers a range of healing tools which are in harmony with current psychological practices. Fruitful research is investigating the benefits of meditation and practices such as Mindfulness. I am always interested to learn if a client follows a particular spiritual path or philosophy.
